Estafa nigeriana


En el primer email, Miss Joy promete amor eterno. "Siempre tuya", termina diciendo en una amplia carta escrita en perfecto inglés.

Explica que es una chica nigeriana de 26 años y que le han obligado a casarse con su tío.
Repite varias veces que él la maltrata y la viola constantemente. Pide ayuda porque su padre, un general del ejército, acaba de morir y le ha dejado una fortuna de 10 millones de dólares. El dinero está bloqueado y quiere que le hagamos una trasferencia para venir a España y poder vivir juntos con su gran fortuna.

En el segundo email, su amor eterno lo plasma en infinidad de palabras de afecto y halagos invocando a Dios. También envía una foto suya sin dejar de insistir en que le mandemos nuestro número de cuenta bancaria. "Siempre tuya", sentencia de nuevo. La realidad es que seguramente Miss Joy no es quién dice ser.

Al preguntar a la Unidad de Delincuencia Económica y Fiscal (Udef) por este sospechoso correo, nos cuentan que Miss Joy es un hombre. Un timador que nos ha intentado hacer la clásica estafa nigeriana, la más famosa y típica en internet. Esta práctica es tan común que hasta tiene una entrada en Wilkipedia:

"Consiste en ilusionar a la víctima con una fortuna inexistente y persuadirla para que pague una suma de dinero por adelantado", explica el portal. Después te desglosa los ocho tipos más comunes en este timo, entre los que está el del "nuevo amor" de la falsa Miss Joy.

Una semana después, recibimos otro mensaje de un banquero de Togo llamado Bukar Mangora. Asegura que su cliente, un rico empresario africano, ha muerto y ha dejado una herencia de 39 millones de dólares. "Nadie de su familia ha venido a solicitar el dinero, y como sus apellidos coinciden con los de mi cliente, puede usted hacerse pasar por un familiar y reclamarlo para sacar todo del país a cambio de una pequeña comisión. Si está interesado, hágamelo saber", explica Bukar, que en pocos minutos nos adjunta varios documentos falsos del Ecobank de Togo, firmados por el Ministerio de Justicia del país, reconociendo el fallecimiento y la fortuna de su supuesto cliente. Al aceptar su propuesta, nos pide el número de teléfono y que le enviemos a la dirección que nos pasa 5.000 dólares para poder sacar ese dinero del país. Supuestamente tiene que pagar muchas tasas y sobornar a la policía togolesa. ¿Quién podría caer en una estafa tan evidente? "Aunque parezca mentira, mucha gente, de todo el mundo. 

Los timadores profesionales seleccionan direcciones de forma aleatoria. Lo mejor es no contestar para que te dejen en paz. La mayoría de las personas no se lo tragan, pero siempre consiguen engañar a alguien porque si no esta estafa ya se habría extinguido hace tiempo", afirman desde la Udef. 

El ejemplo lo encontramos hace unos días en Valencia. Los agentes detuvieron a 22 personas, nigerianas y españolas, por estafar 1.900.000 euros desde 2012 a más de 100 víctimas. Su método era seleccionar al azar varios correos y hacerles creer que eran beneficiarios de una jugosa herencia. Les solicitaban los datos de su cuenta bancaria para transferirles grandes cantidades de dinero que querían sacar de Nigeria a cambio de una comisión. Si aceptaban, les pedían el dinero por adelantado para cubrir los gastos. Hace dos años los agentes desmantelaron otra red que, mediante estas estafan, lograron blanquear más de 11 millones de euros. 

Al terminar estas líneas recibimos otro email de un banquero que dice llamarse Jean Francois. "Me gustaría que fuese el beneficiario de un cliente fallecido, que ha dejado un depósito de 8,7 millones en un banco de Costa de Marfil. No tiene parientes. Si me da su número de teléfono, le llamo y le explico más detalles". Otro intento. Otro timo. Y no será el último.
